Save Point Social Hits A Milestone - 1 Year Old This Month!

By Reese Wright, Founder of Save Point Social on 09/02/2021

The inaugural Save Point event was held at the Tentacle Zone meeting space in London in Feb 2020. Open to Games Industry folks who are trans, non-binary and women, this social gathering was originally intended to be the start of a series of casual monthly in-person get-togethers. Of course, 2020 had other plans…

Soon transformed into a monthly Discord Social open to any Games Industry folks of under-represented genders within the UK, EU and beyond, Save Point weathered the storm that was 2020 and has consistently grown in membership. Held on the 3rd Thursday of every month and starting at 6pm GMT, the event often carries on into the wee hours with people dropping in throughout the evening, and has sparked friendships far and wide.

The main aim of Save Point is to help those in the “under-represented” group to find one another, and build networks & long-lasting friendships. Through this, we can all feel a bit more at home in the Games Industry and (hopefully) stick around for the long-haul! And in this way, Save Point is making a small but crucial difference to many people’s lives, every month by creating a much needed safe space for an underappreciated community in the games sector.

This February marks the one year anniversary of that first event in London, so Save Point will be a birthday party as well as the usual social! If you’re within an under-represented gender group and work in the Games Industry, you are cordially invited to join us on the 18th of February via Discord (Please follow the instructions in #welcome to properly join the server) - Cake is encouraged, as are party hats/streamers/any other party decorations if you feel like joining with video. Also don't forget to follow us on Twitter for announcements and updates in the meantime. We look forward to meeting you!
